Accessibility Statement

Fortis Green Lodge No. 5145

Our commitment

Fortis Green Lodge No. 5145 is committed to making this website accessible to as many people as possible, including those with disabilities. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.

What we do to support accessibility

  • All page content is structured with semantic HTML headings so screen readers can navigate efficiently.
  • All images include descriptive alternative text.
  • Colour contrast ratios meet or exceed the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum of 4.5:1 for body text.
  • All interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields) are keyboard-accessible and display a visible focus indicator.
  • Form fields are labelled correctly and error messages are associated with the relevant input.
  • Pages do not use content that flashes more than three times per second.
  • The website is functional without JavaScript, with the exception of interactive features such as the enquiry form.

Known limitations

While we work to meet WCAG 2.1 AA, there are some areas where we are still improving:

  • Some older PDF documents linked from this site may not be fully accessible. If you need content from a document in an alternative format, please contact us.
  • Embedded third-party content (such as the YouTube video on the Freemasonry page) is subject to that provider's own accessibility practices, which are outside our control.

Technical specification

This website is built with:

  • HTML5, with ARIA landmark roles and attributes used where appropriate.
  • CSS that respects the visitor's operating system preference for reduced motion.
  • Next.js (React), which renders a complete HTML document server-side before JavaScript loads.

The site has been tested with keyboard-only navigation, VoiceOver (macOS), and automated accessibility checking tools.
